Therapy

"I suffered throughout my life with serious mood swings and unsettling outburst of anger that put me into spiralling depressive state. Michelle helped me probe into the reasons behind my thinking and emotions.

We developed tools to help me cope and l now use them every day to manage my feelings.

Over the years l have tried to manage things on my own and read lots of self-help books but this is not a substitute for one-to-one therapy which was delivered with care and compassion.  My relationships with my closest family have seen a distinct improvement." - Charlie

Our feelings are our body’s way of communicating with us. Sometimes it can feel like a foreign language. Let’s figure out what your body is trying to tell you, together, and find ways of giving it what it needs. My aim is to enable you to live the life you want.

I provide a safe and confidential therapy service in Harley Street but see clients from all over the UK and internationally online. I also offer home visits and have done many a therapy session on a park bench.

I primarily work therapeutically using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) but draw on a range of models to meet people’s unique needs, such as Compassion Focussed Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches.

Here are some of the things I help people with:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Stress

  • Coping with life changes

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Anger

  • Loss and bereavement

  • Panic attacks

  • Phobias

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Low self-esteem and confidence

  • Addictive behaviours

  • Self-harm and self-destructive behaviours

  • Personal, family, and relationship problems

  • Performance anxiety

What will a session be like?

Sessions typically last for 50 minutes. Your first one to two sessions will be assessment sessions where we can explore what you would like therapy to help with, what model of therapy may be most suitable, and how often we might want to meet. During the assessment we will begin developing an understanding of how difficulties developed, and use this to inform treatment. The treatment sessions will be shaped to your needs.

Talking about difficulties that are affecting us can be hard. Sometimes people worry about saying things out loud that they have never told anyone else before. Therapy provides a non-judgemental and confidential space, just for you, to help figure things out.
